Friedrich Glück

Composer

1793 — 1840
He was educated at the famous Gymnasium Stift in Tübingen between 1809 and 1813. After a journey to Italy in 1814 he settled as a Protestant minister in Schorndorf (Württemberg). He enjoyed the friendship of the poet Lenau, whose Schielflieder he set to music. His Eichendorff song Untreue was composed and published in 1814. The setting soon became part of the folk tradition. Friedrich Silcher's arrangement for male chorus further increased its popularity.
