Joe Hisaishi: Viola Saga – with Antoine Tamestit

Viola player Antoine Tamestit joins the Wiener Symphoniker for the premiere recording of Joe Hisaishi's Viola Saga, with the composer himself conducting. Filmed at a run-through during the recording sessions in Vienna's famed Konzerthaus a few months after his celebrated first Vienna concert with the Wiener Symphoniker, this new viola concerto shows yet another side of Hisiashi's art beyond the film scores with which he first achieved international acclaim. This performance, meanwhile, unites him with a soloist whose warm sound and unsurpassed technique have proved inspirational.
