Boston Baroque: Haydn's Die Schöpfung – with Hera Hyesang Park
GBH Calderwood Studio
120 Min
Haydn was inspired to produce his great biblical oratorio Die Schöpfung (The Creation) by hearing some of Handel’s large-scale choral works while on trips to London in the early 1790s. And the result is one of his finest works, combining his unmatched gifts for melody, word-painting and symphonic structure to inspired effect. Here soprano Hera Hyesang Park is joined by tenor Paul Appleby and baritone Nicholas Newton for a performance given by the forces of Boston Baroque – one of the USA’s leading historically informed groups – under their founder and director Martin Pearlman.
