Anton Mejias in Recital: Bach and Lasser

The young Finnish-Cuban pianist Anton Mejias is already gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting young keyboard talents of his generation. He has been fascinated by Bach from a young age, having already learned his complete Well-Tempered Clavier already by the age of ten. In this concert filmed in Dresden’s Palais im Großen Garten in 2024, he performs the second book from that groundbreaking set interspersed with the 12 Preludes that make up American composer Philip Lasser’s “The Art of Melody” – a co-commission by the Dresdner Musikfestspiele and Newport Classical here receiving its premiere. The result promises to be a fascinating, revealing dialogue between old and new, as well as dazzling showcase of this young pianist’s talent.
