Touching the Sound: The Improbable Journey of Nobuyuki Tsujii

A film by Peter Rosen

Production Date: 01/01/2013
69 Min

The fact that Nobuyuki Tsujii has been blind from birth has never affected his ability to play the piano. Set against the backdrop of the music of Chopin, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, other great piano masterpieces and Nobuyuki’s own uplifting compositions, this film is an inspiration to all people who face disabilities, severe challenges, or obstacles in life. Filmed May 2013, “Touching the Sound” traces Nobuyuki’s lifelong struggle to become a world-class pianist, taking in his young years as a student, a recent American tour, a visit to the earthquake and tsunami devastated areas of Japan, and ending with his triumphant debut at the BBC Proms in London.
