Hélène Grimaud: 9/11 in London

It was a day that brought the world to a standstill: 11 September 2001. But for Hélène Grimaud, the Orchestre de Paris and conductor Christoph Eschenbach, the show had to go on: with a scheduled performance at the BBC Proms that very day. Grimaud, making her debut at the festival, is visibly affected and channels her feelings into a deeply emotional performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, supported every second of the way by orchestra and conductor. It was an unforgettable occasion for everyone there and an event revisited – through interviews and original concert footage – in this very episode of “Magic Moments of Music”.
