Festive Concert with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra

Since it's founding in 1985, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra has earned a reputation as one of the most excellent early music ensembles. In this recording from their 1999 Christmas season, the orchestra performs a festive programme, with selections from Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Handel's Messiah, together with others that are not necessarily directly related to the holiday. In addition to instrumental pieces, such as the poignant Air from Bach's Third Orchestral Suite, the concert at the Freiburg Cathedral also includes vocal compositions with soprano Barbara Bonney and baritone Matthias Goerne.
