Hope for Prague – A Musical Celebration on the Vltava
Concert
Jiří Slavík & Daniel Hope
Production Date: 20/10/2020
69 Min
The spectacular setting of this concert on a floating stage on the Vltava, with a panoramic backdrop of Prague Castle, provides the ideal setting for a new reworking of the music of Smetana's tone poem describing the river. With the Epoque Orchestra, the Czech composer Jiří Slavík conducts the world premiere of his own arrangement of the piece, Vltava on Vltava. The orchestra is then joined by star violinist Daniel Hope, who performs Max Richter's recomposition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – the central work in a programme celebrating the return to live music after the silence imposed by the global pandemic of 2020.
