The Music of Howard Shore: Eastern Promises

This concert might take its name from David Cronenberg's 2007 film, but it shows also composer Howard Shore's ability to create his own musical worlds away from the silver screen with four works that were receiving their first French performances. Two of them expand and elaborate on his film scores – the Concertino from Eastern Promises and the Song of Names Suite for Violin and Orchestra – while the concertos for piano and cello that follow are works originally produced for the concert hall. Three superb French instrumentalists feature as soloists with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Bastien Stil providing top-quality orchestral support.
