Marie Awadis: Études Mélodiques – The Kühlhaus Sessions

Filmed in Berlin’s Kühlhaus, Armenian composer and pianist Marie Awadis presents the music from her upcoming debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, featuring her 12 Études Mélodiques. She performs the works solo at the piano as well as presenting four of the Études in new versions of piano and string ensemble – two of them arranged especially for this film and performed and recorded here for the first time. The performances are complemented by an innovative visual concept (produced by Yoél Culiner) creating for each work an appropriate atmosphere to underline its special melodic and poetic power.
