Musical Moment: Anna Prohaska & Caspar Frantz

Austrian-British soprano Anna Prohaska shares a musical moment with pianist Caspar Frantz in this recital at the Meistersaal in Berlin. Leading a journey through a repertoire of personally selected meditative art songs and opera arias, the duo brings historical works into the modern day and light into darkened times. Feeling the weight of the 2020 global pandemic, Prohaska and Frantz turn to music as a source of comfort. The condensed piano part dovetails with the rich vocals, creating an atmosphere of warmth and dearness. Performing mutual favourites and one of the most romantic arias in the repertoire from Puccini’s La Bohème, the two also travel through well-known works of Purcell, Weill, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, and Schumann.
