Born in Beijing in 1999, Dai Laing (A Bu) is a pianist and composer. Before moving to New York in 2014, he was trained at the Central Conservatory of Music in China. In addition to his classical training, A Bu is also a jazz pianist, having won the first prize and audience choice at the 2015 Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition and performing with jazz legend Chick Corea. As a composer, his compositions are published by Schott Music. In addition, A Bu is an advocate of Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin’s music, editing the first Chinese edition of Kapustin’s piano music.
