Anne-Sophie Mutter – Encounters with Mendelssohn

Anne-Sophie Mutter is one of the most famous classical musicians of her generation and one of the most admired violinists in the world – and has been ever since her breakthrough performances with Herbert von Karajan in the late 1970s. Among the many awards she has accumulated throughout her career is the Leipzig Mendelssohn Award, and here – to accompany performances of the composer's chamber works – she explores why the composer means so much to her. The result is a fascinating insight not only into Mendelssohn and his music, but also into Mutter's own convictions as an artist.
