Horowitz in Moscow

After 60 years’ absence from Russia, pianist Vladimir Horowitz returned home in 1986 – just three years before his death – to perform a recital at the State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. The concert has gone down in musical legend as a historic homecoming from one of the 20th century’s greatest and most celebrated musician. Here, with the help of interviews with Peter Gelb, Martha Argerich, Daniil Trifonov and Sophie Pacini, this documentary explores the background to the event and its unique historical context, and examines what made it so special.
