Mehta conducts Weber, Beethoven and Liszt – with Lisa Batiashvili

Zubin Mehta is on the podium of the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich for a programme bringing together works by Weber, Liszt and – with violinist Lisa Batiashvili – Beethoven. The concert begins in the magical realm of Weber’s "Oberon" Overture, pervaded by the elven king's three-note horn call. Liszt's rousing tone poem Les Préludes – also featuring a three-note motif heard throughout – follows, while Beethoven's revolutionary Violin Concerto of 1806 brings the concert to a conclusion: a work that calls for a unique mixture of poetry and virtuosity from the soloist.
