Saraste conducts Sibelius: Symphonies Nos. 6 & 7

Jukka-Pekka Saraste continues his acclaimed Sibelius symphony cycle with the composer's final two works in the genre: hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric masterpieces, shortly after which Sibelius stopped composing altogether. For the luminous, nature-inspired Sixth Symphony and the epic one-movement Seventh – as well as as for the rest of the cycle – Saraste conducts the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, which premiered all but the final symphony, and whose unbroken tradition in performing the music of Finland's best-loved composer is unparalleled.
