New Year's Eve Concert with the Berlin Philharmonic & Sir Simon Rattle

Concert

Menahem Pressler

Production Date: 31/12/2014
92 Min

For decades, Menahem Pressler was the pianist of the famous Beaux Arts Trio before embarking on his late career as a soloist that was admired by the entire classical music world. At the age of 90, he makes his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in January 2014, the same year he returned to the orchestra for the New Year's Eve Concert with an irresistibly subtle interpretation of Mozart's 23rd Piano Concerto. Simon Rattle opens the evening with the rhythmically and harmonically refined music of Jean-Philippe Rameau, a favourite composer of his. Dance-like, lively works by Dvořák and Kodály are followed by rousing encores that are equally as captivating.
