Exactly 250 years after its premiere, Mozart's early opera Il re pastore (The Shepherd King) returns to exactly where that premiere took place: the Rittersaal in the former Archbishops' Palace in Salzburg. In this very special anniversary concert performance, Rolando Villazón leads a superb cast as King Alessandro, while Emily Pogorelc is Aminta, the shepherd identified as his successor. With support from the Camerata Salzburg under its dynamic concertmaster, Giovanni Guzzo, this promises to be an unforgettable performance of this charming opera – and a fitting celebration of the 19-year-old genius who composed it.
