From the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe continue their Brahms cycle, started in 2022, with performances of the third and fourth symphonies: the one lyrical and intimate, the other grandly conceived and impassioned. The performances are likely to continue to bring a fresh, direct perspective on these central works in the repertoire, replacing – as one critic observed in 2022 – "dark, heavy, Germanic sound [with] transparency, bright colours and clearly articulated phrasing".
