Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons

Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons

Concert

With Daniel Hope

Production Date: 17/12/2013
44 Min

Max Richter's recomposition of Antonio Vivaldi's famous Four Seasons has become a classic in its own right. Instantly recognisable musical passages undulate and mutate, resurface and repeat, resonating and rebounding off of sweeping rhythms and electronic undertones. Richter calls it an "experimental hybrid [...] that is always 'Vivaldi' but at the same time always 'Richter' [...] and preserves the original spirit of this great work." Performing alongside the composer, Daniel Hope takes on the technically demanding solo violin in this concert filmed with l'arte del mondo at the Funkhaus Nalepastrasse in Berlin. The work was written in 2012 and is the first production in the "recomposed" series from Deutsche Grammophon.
