"Mozart is proof of God" Riccardo Muti once said in an interview and in 2006, the Italian conductor took part in the 250th birthday celebration, held in the composer's hometown. In the Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Muti puts on a festive concert together with the Wiener Philharmoniker. Mozart's genius is demonstrated by his ability to write masterpieces in all the genres common to his time and this performance showcases his skill as a composer of symphonies, operas and solo concertos. Soloists known for their original and idiomatic Mozart styles join in, including Mitsuko Uchida, Thomas Hampson, Gidon Kremer and Yuri Bashmet.
