Spring Festival in Tokyo

The largest classical music festival in Japan, the Spring Festival in Tokyo was founded in 2005 and runs every year from mid March to mid April. Timed to coincide with the arrival of spring in the city – heralded in the historic Ueno district every year by a spectacular explosion of cherry blossoms – the festival features a superb line-up of international and Japanese performers presenting a varied programme of opera, orchestral music, chamber concerts and instrumental recitals alongside more informal open-air performances and events.
