One can hardly imaging a starrier line-up for Beethoven's Triple Concerto than Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim – not only three of today’s most renowned classical artists, but also celebrated Beethoven interpreters in their own right. They come together for a special performance in Berlin that marks a triple celebration: Beethoven’s 250th birthday, the 40th anniversary of the first recording of the concerto by Mutter and Ma under Herbert von Karajan, and the 20th birthday of Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. With its memorable themes, lyrically sustained middle movement and buoyant finale, the Triple Concerto proves an ideal fit for this special occasion, captured in Berlin's Philharmonie.
