Daniil Trifonov & Mikhail Pletnev: Chopin Piano Concertos
Mahler Chamber Orchestra
The two piano concertos that Frédéric Chopin wrote in his career firmly secured his reputation as a composer of originality and brilliance. Poetic, impassioned, and moving, the concertos were written within a year of one another, while Chopin was in love with Polish soprano Konstancja Gładkowska. Daniil Trifonov's celebrated performances of composer's works play to his great talents, mixing maturity and tact with a composer's own awareness of every melody and harmony, while his unrivalled technique is placed at the service of the works' brilliance, and virtuosity. Mikhail Pletnev, Trifonov's self-proclaimed musical forefather, directs the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in this premiere performance of his own reorchestrations of the two concertos.
