Kissin & Kavakos play Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata
Concert
Verbier Festival 2019

It's a rare opportunity to see pianist Evgeny Kissin and violinist Leonidas Kavakos perform together, but the experience was to be enjoyed in the Swiss Alps at the Verbier Festival in 2019. Each year, renowned soloists and up-and-coming talents gather to perform in various venues and display the highest level of artistry. That is certainly the case in this performance of the Kreutzer Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. Composed in the same year as he wrote the Heiligenstadt Testament out of despair of his advancing deafness, the Kreutzer Sonata exceeds anything that had previously existed in the genre in terms of structure, melody and technical requirements.
