In 1936, a group of musical migrants from Europe founded an ensemble in Tel Aviv that thrilled the classical music scene and in 1947 came to be known as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In this performance, for their 75th anniversary, the world-renowned orchestra plays at the impressive Hangar 11 in the port of Tel Aviv, together with pianist Evgeny Kissin and violinists Julian Rachlin and Vadim Repin – musicians, whose interpretations are characterised by depth and virtuosity. At the helm is Zubin Mehta, who, as principal conductor from 1977 to 2019, shaped a particularly glorious era of the orchestra, striving for a new standard of energetic chamber music-making, as demonstrated at the end, with Beethoven's Eighth Symphony.
