Thielemann conducts Bruckner: Symphony No. 1

Filmed in the Philharmonie im Gasteig in Munich, Christian Thielemann conducts the Staatskapelle Dresden in Bruckner's Symphony No. 1 as part his first complete audio-visual cycle of the visionary Austrian composer's officially numbered symphonies. And, as one would expect, he brings a compelling authority, matched by the burnished sound of one of the world's most storied orchestras, to a work in which we see Bruckner starting to bridge the gap between a symphonic world rooted in the 18th century and imposing works of late Romanticism that were to come.
