Concert

Staatskapelle Berlin

Many performances in Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, making this open-air concert from the centre of Berlin all the more welcome. At the centre of the programme stands the monumental Ninth Symphony, culminating in the all-embracing "Ode to Joy", while violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter shows the composer's more intimate side with his two Romances. The Staatskapelle Berlin is conducted by Daniel Barenboim, the orchestra's music director since 1992 and one of the most important Beethoven interpreters of our time.
