Maria João Pires & Friends: Schubertiades III. Trio and Fantasia

“What I like about Schubert is his way of accepting things” says the Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires. “It’s beautiful to connect with that feeling.” And in her specially-curated Schubertiades she does exactly that – inviting musical friends to explore Schubert’s creative world in all its richness. Here, at the Philharmonie de Paris, specially devised visuals complement a programme that ranges from the playfulness of Schubert’s Marches Militaires to the grand vistas of the Fantasy in F minor and the Second Piano Trio. Cellist Antonio Meneses and violinist Gyula Stuller are just two of the artists joining Pires for this celebration of a supreme Romantic imagination.
