Chick Corea, Friedrich Gulda & Nicolas Economou: On Three Pianos

Filmed in 1982, at the second year of the Munich Klaviersommer, this concert encapsulates much of the groundbreaking festival’s ethos, bringing together three very different pianists with very different backgrounds to perform together. Friedrich Gulda – initiator of the festival – is joined by Cypriot virtuoso Nicolas Economou and jazz legend Chick Corea to present individual performances as well as joint improvisations – including on well-known classical works. The result is a fascinating, intoxicating musical coming-together that questions and transcends traditional musical boundaries.
