Chick Corea & Nicolas Economou: On Two Pianos

The Munich Klaviersommer, founded in 1981, was unlike any other piano festival, explicitly setting out to cross boundaries and question traditional definitions. And nowhere more so was this the case than in its concerts bringing together musicians from the worlds of classical music and jazz – two worlds straddled by Friedrich Gulda, its inimitable founder. This concert from 1982 fully lives and breathes the festival's aims, setting up a memorable meeting between the jazz legend Chick Corea and the brilliantly but tragically short-lived Cypriot pianist Nicolas Economou. The result is a remarkable meeting of minds where sparks fly in the heat of the moment – a truly memorable musical event.
